Glenbard South to present Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!”
“Consider yourself at home” with this classic musical based on the timeless Charles Dikens’ novel, Oliver Twist.
This touching Tony Award winning musical has charmed audiences through the years. Poor orphaned Oliver is forced into an unhealthy apprenticeship of an undertaker which does not last long. As a run-away, Oliver joins a group of thieves and pickpockets who welcome him into their ranks. When captured by the police for a crime he did not commit the generous victim, Mr. Brownlow, decides to raise Oliver as his own. However, in order to cover their tracks and ensure their safety, Fagin, Bill Sikes, and Nancy formulate a plan in order to kidnap Oliver. In the end our characters are forced to face their consciences to determine rights and wrongs. Do our circumstances truly determine our character?
